Guided tours on Midtåsen

The beautiful former home of shipping magnate and philanthropist Anders Jahre is now owned by the Norwegian Government. The house, which sits in 15 acres of grounds (Midtåsen), was built in the 1930s and designed by renowned Norwegian architect Arnstein Arneberg. It was the home of Anders and his wife Bess until his death in 1982, and Bess continued to live there until her death in the summer of 2006. The estate, which has a unique park containing a number of sculptures and with fantastic views over the Sandefjord fjord, is now open to the general public for the first time.

The June 24 opened a sculpture park of Knut Steen in the park facility by the side of the main house. This is open Monday - Friday at 10 am - 2 pm and Saturday - Sunday at 10 am - 3 pm.
